Who are we?

2020

Medium:Ceramic, medium transfer photograph, digital screen, surveillance camera

Description

This work sends my condolences after the epidemic that took place in China in early 2020. Countless innocent people's lives were taken by the sudden unknown virus. The fragility and rigidity of ceramics resonate with the seemingly powerful human beings, but they are vulnerable during times of crisis. On the internet, people’s queries and cries for help have been forcibly removed and replaced by “Not found 404.” The scene under the monitor’s gaze symbolizes the reality of the people, speechless and monitored under the power. The superimposed and blurred Chinese ID cards question the rights of people and their identities under the system.
