Based on my curiosity about the purpose of dating apps and how they came into being, I launched a year-long social practice of a “dating chat." After experiencing verbal harassment by many male users, I decided to stitch screenshots of the chat and their user profile information into a baseball, a metaphor for the primary, male sexual characteristics. They are placed in a large net bag that is the female, instead of being objectified and put in the position of being passively selected. Simultaneously, the audience can pick up baseball bats and hit net bags at will, expressing their anger that was once dominated by males.
